Art marries function, with our Living on The Edge Line of Cutting Boards.
8 distinctive patterns of Exotic and Domestic Hardwoods, in layered edge grain stripes.
The beauty of edge grain cutting boards is they are the perfect sweet spot -  not too hard to dull your knives, and not too soft to show cut marks easily. All our boards are heirloom quality, made to last, and will quickly become the workhorse of your kitchen prep work.

Our cutting boards are all natural, and 100% food safe. We never use any dye or stain.  The colors you see are inherit to the specific wood.  There are slight variations board to board, because, you know, they’re made of wood, and that’s how nature works.  We feel these add to the character of the wood, and should in no way be considered flaws.  We sand our boards to 400 grit, then, with the care you’d give your 3-month-old, gently bathe them in food grade mineral oil.   This soaks in, and protects the wood grain, as well as brings out the natural beauty and sheen of the hardwoods we hand selected to go into your board.  We finish by buffing on a layer of beeswax and mineral oil, to give the wood extra protection from moisture; because as we all know, moisture is the mortal enemy of wood.  Like Kryptonite to Superman, fighting it out on your kitchen counter.

  • Clean your board with mild dish soap and water. Rinse clean, then dry it thoroughly.
DO NOT use the dishwasher to clean your board.
After each use, use a good steel scraper to remove food particles and 75% of the liquid.
DO NOT let any liquids (brine, water, blood) stand on the board for long periods of time. It will soak into the wood, causing the cutting board to expand, the wood to soften, and affects the strength of the glued joints.
Use kosher salt and halved lemons, or vinegar and baking soda to get rid of smells and bacteria.
Be sure to NEVER cut continuously on the same surface area. Distribute your cutting over the entire work surface, so your board will wear evenly. DO NOT USE RAZOR EDGED KNIVES. They will chip or splinter the wood and produce soft spots. Your cleaver should have a dull sharpened edge for best results.
At least once a month, (or more, depending on usage), apply an even coat of mineral oil to all surfaces of your cutting board, with a cloth or disposable towel. Allow it to soak into the wood fibers overnight, then wipe off any excess oil.
For additional protection, we recommend our Maderas Bellas Board Conditioner, to seal the top of the wood surface, using the supplied applicator or a lint-free towel. Allow the conditioner to penetrate the wood surface overnight, then wipe off any excess. It helps keep bacteria causing liquids out, and protects, revitalizes, and moisturizes the wood fibers.
